It’s here! The bumper four-minute long preview from The Amazing Spider-Man aired in the US last night, and it features a dizzying array of action sequences, plot teases and a hilarious spot where Spidey’s greatest weakness is exposed.
Any comic book movie that dares to be released in the same year as The Avengers is a brave comic movie indeed. But to give Spider-Man his dues, this movie seems to have a good balance of sharp banter, visually stunning set pieces and the intrigue of what actually happened to Peter Parker’s parents.
Just in case you thought The Avengers movie was the superhero film hitting cinemas this year, Christopher Nolan would like to politely remind you that his Batman trilogy will be wrapping up this year too. And none of your fancy heroes in primary colours firing out one-liners either, we’re going straight into Gotham’s darkest hour.
Yep, the Dark Knight Rises trailer has hit the internets and we’re treated to a whole host of goodies. First up, there are the new villains of the piece – Anne Hathaway as Selena Kyle and Tom Hardy as Bane. And I have to point out that Bane’s audio has been worked on massively, though his voice sounds a bit tacked-on in the way the Darth Vader’s did after James Earl Jones re-recorded it.
The other day, we talked about the new Total Recall trailer that was due to come out over the weekend. Well, it’s out now, and we’ve had a chance to process some of the footage from the trailer. And here are six things that we learned from the trailer: Read more & comment »
We brought you some teaser footage from the Total Recall remake yesterday, and now we’ve got our first look at the movie’s poster!
It features Irish actor Colin Farrell as Douglas Quaid in a futuristic cityscape. You may notice that Quaid appears to be fragmenting into a pixelated mess from the head down, presumably a metaphor for his mental state. After all, his brain is essentially a hard drive that’s been wiped and overwritten several times.
We weren’t really all that stoked about the idea of a Total Recall reboot, but after watching their ‘teaser trailer for a teaser trailer’, well…when’s the release date?
The teaser video gives us a look at the futuristic shanty town where all the action takes place, plus Colin Farrell in the ‘Recall’ machine (which is surprisingly similar to one in the original movie). Farrell’s taking on the classic Schwarznegger role of Douglas Quaid, a construction worker who goes to Recall for a memory implant experience – and ends up discovering he’s a resistance spy whose memory has been erased.
Right, so they’re remaking RoboCop. Because what the world needs now is a titanium metal alloy cyborg law enforcer. And hopefully, now that it’s a phenomenal 25 years since the original movie, we can confidently predict that Robocop will have…wi-fi! Or at least USB2.
But what’s really going on with this movie remake? The rumour mill has been in overdrive, even suggesting that Russell Crowe would be strapping on a shiny metal helmet to play Officer Murphy. We decided that it was time that we dug into the story to find out what’s going on with the movie.
The full official trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man has just hit the webs, and I think I just exploded web fluid all over myself! Wow.
Maybe I’m extremely easily pleased, but from what I can see, the movie looks to be a visual feast as well as providing a great basis for an origin reboot.
This guy wears a mask, like an outlaw. Peter: I think he’s trying to do something maybe the police can’t. Peter wrong-foots Gwen Stacy’s father by suggesting that Spider-Man is more effective than the cops. Looks like George Stacy is going to be this movie’s Spidey-hating authority figure.
It’s a live-action retelling of the classic Disney tale: Snow White & The Huntsman is billed as an epic action-adventure pitting Kristen Stewart’s Snow White against the ultimate wicked stepmother – Charlize Theron’s evil Queen. The film is due to hit cinemas on 1st June 2012, and in our first-ever Movie Spotlight, we’re going to tell you all you need to know about Snow White & The Huntsman: who’s in it, what it’s about and what you need to know. It’s usually on press junkets to promote a new movie that actors reveal newsworthy tidbits about their lives in order to grab headlines – and therefore attention – about their latest offerings. In this case, it’s the director of Tower Heist who has pushed things a little too far with a series of lewd and offensive remarks. In the first instance, he claimed to have slept with (sorry “banged”, to use his word) Attack Of The Show host Olivia Munn and Lindsay Lohan.
And if that wasn’t classy enough, Ratner really drew the ire of the industry when he dropped the “rehearsal is for fags” bomb. And that’s when the backlash against him really started. Because obviously in an industry which has a large number of gay and lesbian actors, not to mention the behind-the-scenes personnel, Ratner’s remarks caused an enormous amount of offence. He’s hardly going to be flavour of the month with the LGBT community now, is he?
The creator of the British superhero sitcom No Heroics has been hired to write the script for a thirdSherlock Holmes film.
The Hollywood Reporter says today that Drew Pearce has signed on to write the sequel – and yes, we know that the second Holmes movie, A Game Of Shadows hasn’t even hit the cinemas yet. As the cinema newspaper notes:
